If you have been involved with Internet Marketing for any length of time you will realize it’s a lot like the wild west. What I mean by it being like the wild west is the Internet is unregulated for the most part and almost anything goes online. That’s why you have to be careful who you get involved with online, and you have to be careful not to get scammed since nobody is regulating things.
Me I love the net being like the Wild West and I always romanticize about living in the Wild West if it were possible for some reason, I guess I love the freedom the net gives me and anything goes online is why the net reminds me of the Wild West. I decided I wanted my life like the wild West, and I can get that life online so I decided to start an online business.
For someone like me who loves the net starting an online business is like a dream. I can literally spend all day on the net and not get bored. I just think of something off the top of my head that excites me then Google it and presto it’s there. I thought since I’m online all day wasting time, why not start an Internet business, and waste time making money if that makes sense.
In 2005 I started looking for an Internet business to get involved in and boy was it wild. What I mean by it being wild is I kept jumping around from one opportunity to opportunity and spending all kinds of money. What happened to me was what happens to a lot of newbies who start looking for an opportunity they get caught up in a lot of scams, or they are confused on how to do things so they jump around or quit.
MY advice to newbies thinking about starting an online business is instead of jumping into an opportunity research many opportunities. Google reviews about the opportunity and take as much time as you need then when you are ready join the opportunity and stick with it till you are successful in that opportunity then start looking for another opportunity. I would be successful by now if I stuck with the first opportunity, but I had to keep jumping around. I jumped around for almost ten years and accomplished nothing because I always though the grass was greener on the other side. But now I’ve finally figured it out that sticking with one thing till I succeed is the only way I will accomplish anything. I’m sticking to this opportunity until I succeed or at least give it enough time to see if it works.
If you are setting up an online business, your success will ultimately come down to your ability to get customers. If you have no customers, you’ll have no business. Marketing is the way that you get those customers and without it, your business is going struggle to survive. Marketing does not just just mean doing some advertising when you set up a website business. Advertising is just part of the marketing mix.
Some people think that marketing and advertising is the same thing. As mentioned above, advertising is an element of marketing whether you’re setting up an online business or working on an established business. Advertising is a more passive activity and marketing is more active. When you place an ad it sits there and does its job, but marketing is about getting people to see those ads and everything else you do to promote your business.
1. Search Engine Optimization.
An important online marketing technique when setting up a web business is search engine optimization or SEO. This is the technique that search engines, such as Google, look for keywords within your website to deliver search results. Keywords are the words and phrases that somebody types into a search engine when they are looking for something on the Internet. SEO takes time to set up, but it also needs to be kept up to date on a regular basis. Search engines like fresh and relevant content, and when you’re setting up an online business you’ll have lots of new ideas and content that you can add to your website. Just remember to keep adding new content to your website on a regular basis.
2. Build A Customer List.
One of the best methods of marketing when setting up an online business is building an opt-in mailing list. This is when you get people to give you their email address so that you can market to them whenever you want. In exchange for a potential customer’s email address you should offer them something of value, like special deals, exclusive information or a free report or video of some kind.
3. Marketing With Email.
It takes seven to twelve exposures to your message before people will take action. Effective email marketing is vitally important when setting up an online business because it allows you to build a relationship with the people on your email list. This way they start to recognize the value that you are sending to them and be more willing to buy from you. Remember that every message you send needs to have value. Whether you are providing information or selling something, it has to be of value to the person reading it.
4. Good Website Design.
When you have a well designed website, users do not know if they’re dealing with a global company or a one-person operation. And this is good news when you’re setting up an online business because it means that your website can compete alongside the big organisations. Keep your website navigation simple and remember to clearly outline the benefits of your products and services on your homepage.

In an era where we are becoming more aware than ever of government cover-ups, spying plans, and widespread sociopolitical injustice, social media sites are of great and unparalleled importance. The awareness they offer us is not something we are comfortable with, because witnessing the horrors of modern history unfolding is a terribly difficult thing to experience secondhand, let alone firsthand. Still, how many of us watched revolutions internationally unfolding through our social media dashboards in just the past two years? Social and political expression through the web is necessary if we are to guard against tyranny, genocide, and injustice at home and around the world. Social media outlets have proven to be the stage through which these stories are exposed, and they remain a testament to some of the most important events of this century.
In many oppressive situations, communications between the people and the outside world are cut off by the government in order to prevent the international community from seeing what human rights atrocities are being committed. Creativity is incredibly valuable here, as protestors and activists find ways to get around these filters and access social media outlets to let the world know what’s going on. There’s a note of comedy to the whole experience, too – how many of us have joked about video hosting sites being used exclusively for videos of cats, or of text-based blogging platforms content being mostly about mundane, everyday things that no one wants to read about? Our sense of humor certainly doesn’t prevent us from noticing the ways in which these supposedly small and unimportant blogging sites have become vital to people all around the world. The revolutionary social discussion that is possible because of their existence is astonishing.
If you have a passion for justice and the authenticity that journalism can offer when everyday people from all around the world take out their phones and log in, there is certainly a place for you in the ever-evolving and improving social media marketplace. Sometimes, the battles we fight in the Western world pale in comparison to those of other nations, but being on the front lines protesting, sharing, and learning from one another is still incredibly important to improving our continued existence on this planet. Social and political expression is a luxury for many of us, and yet, we don’t engage it as often as we should. Let’s learn something from the young activists and radicals across the globe, risking their lives to send a 140-character message to us, letting us know what’s happening on the international stage just outside of our view. We have all the tools necessary to take those lessons and honor them in the development of our own societies.

When you set up your own blog it can be one of your most powerful marketing assets if you stick to the subjects your prospects and customers find interesting. Blogs play a key role in educating prospects so that they become future customers. Many of your most qualified leads, whether you know who they are or not, will read your blog at some time or another.
Also, when you set up your own blog, it will improve your organic search engine results as you add new pages to your website and encourage inbound links.
One of the main secrets on how to create a successful blog is to post on a frequent basis. If you do not write and publish blog posts regularly, you will not get much traffic, and people will not come back after reading something from you once. Posting on a regular basis also keeps your website content material fresh, and search engines like fresh content. The more often you post, the more often the search engine spiders will check out your website.
When you set up your own blog you have to write content that people will be interested in reading, and that is connected to your industry or niche. If you have a blog about, say, surfing, the majority of your blog most should be related to surfing.
Blogs are great for people who sell services. If you are a graphic designer or writer, when you set up your own blog it is a good way to keep in touch with your clients. You can offer updates on your schedule and availability, current prices and special offers. You can also post samples of your latest work. If you have a number of clients subscribe to your RSS feed, you’ll be able to keep in contact with them, so they’ll order from you more often.
How To Create A Successful Blog.
People also tend to follow blogs more carefully than websites. Don’t set up your own blog with the intention of letting it sit dormant and think that it will do all the work for you. It probably won’t work. If you’re going to start a blog, you need to be prepared to commit yourself to growing the blog, posting often, keeping it updated, and not giving up on it.
When you set up a blog it provides multiple selling opportunities from text links woven throughout the content to banner ads that you strategically place on the page. The sidebar can also be utilized as affiliate or direct sales revenue space.
When you set up your own blog make sure that you to publish it on your own domain name rather than hosting it inside of a blogging community. When you have your own domain it makes your blog look more professional. It also adds credibility to your efforts to establish yourself as an authority in your industry.
The important thing about how to create a successful blog is that your content should always be relevant to your audience and provide valuable and useful information to them. If you can tie in something emotional that will really hit home with your prospect, he, or she will continue to come back to read more.

I was once asked the following question by someone on my email list: “If there’s some advice you wish you’d received before starting an online business, what would it be?.” It’s a great question, and one I’ll examine here as I’d imagine my answer would be very useful to all those about to embark on the amazing adventure of beginning, and hopefully growing, a profitable online venture.
Anyone I’ve ever met in business will agree on one thing. It takes a huge amount of work and effort to start and grow a business. And it’s a continual, and often steep, learning curve every step of the way.
The best thing you can do on starting out is to have accurate expectations on what your journey to success will be like.
So don’t buy into the hype that is sometimes still perpetuated about the possibilities for overnight success, about the ‘4 hour work week,’ the ease with which you can grow a successful business, and so on. If you believe that when you first start in business, or that there’s a ‘secret key’ to success, you’re setting yourself up for early disillusionment, demotivation, and failure.
On the other hand, if you’re ready to put the work in, to meet the challenge head on, and throw everything you’ve got at it (and then some!), you’re far more likely to succeed.
For the first few months at least – but more realistically, years – it can involve twelve hour days (often more), seven days a week. It’s all consuming, and can take over every aspect of your life as you know it.
You need the absolute dedication, commitment and drive it takes to succeed. Even when ‘successful,’ there will be bumps in the road, down times, times when it seems nothing’s going your way and you feel close to accepting defeat and giving in.
But it’s at times like these when the wheat’s separated from the chaff, and true success is actually created. You pick yourself up off the floor yet again, figure out what the experience is trying to teach you, and keep on going on. One thing’s guaranteed – if you do stop, you fail. If you’re going to succeed, failure’s not an option.
(Study the back-story of anyone who you consider to be very successful, and you’ll find they’ve all had their moments. For example, the vast majority have been through bankruptcy, and some of those more than once. Just one example would be Donald Trump who has so far filed for bankruptcy four times.)
So in summary, prepare for hard work, give it all you’ve got, and persevere through the hard times. Ultimately, the rewards are there if you’re prepared to rise to the challenge. And the best reward is actually the journey itself.
Don’t Fear Failure – Just Do It Anyway
It might be a good idea to pick up a copy of Susan Jeffers’ best-selling book, ‘Feel The Fear … And Do It Anyway’.
So many people never start their business in the first place simply because they fear it won’t work, they’ll be made to look a fool, they’ll lose everything, and so on. Or they’ll find excuses in the form of other things they need to do first before they can start – but ultimately all rooted in fear of failure.
And so they never become all they can be, never reach their full potential in terms of what they can offer to the world, and live a life of regrets and unfulfilled dreams.
That’s not just a loss to them, but a loss to the rest of society in terms of the unique value they could have offered.
So my best advice would be to acknowledge you’re fearful – that’s perfectly normal – but just to start anyway and see where your journey takes you. Unless you start, you’ve failed before you’ve even begun – and to me that’s a great deal more scary than embarking on the adventure of a lifetime.
Define Your Goals – And Maintain Your Focus
Any journey needs a destination, and starting an online business is no different.
In starting a business, you need to decide what your goals are. And be precise. What exactly are you looking to achieve?
Once they’re defined, you then need to fully commit to achieving them. I don’t want to get too metaphysical, but the universe has an uncanny knack of conspiring to deliver what you’re fully focused on achieving.
Keep focusing on your goals until you achieve them. Find what works for you in order to keep your focus laser-sharp. For example, stick them on the wall or your bathroom mirror, convert them into affirmations to recite day and night, commit to achieving them with friends and family, or any combination.
Finally, understand that while focus on your goals is important, they’re not set in stone. Circumstances change, as do your own needs and desires, and you should be willing to adjust them as you go forward. If your goals no longer make sense for you or stop resonating, adjust them accordingly. They can be as flexible as you need them to be, but the important point is to know where you’re headed and what you’re working towards.
Avoid Information Overload – Find Some Key Mentors
There’s so much information out there, a lot of it contradictory, it can leave you in a form of analysis paralysis and you just don’t know which way to go. That’s true whether you’re just starting an online business, or you’re five years down the road.
The truth is, there is no right way, different tactics and strategies will work for different businesses at different times, and may or may not work for you.
I’d advise to follow a few key mentors, and use their information to guide you, but ultimately you need to find out for yourself whether something works or not and your own experience will increasingly become your guide.
Listen To Your Market – And Adjust Accordingly
As your business develops and you start gathering leads and your first few sales, you’ll start receiving feedback. This may be negative or positive, but the negative messages you receive will actually be most useful for the ongoing success of your online business.
– What are your customers frustrated by? What could you deliver to ensure greater levels of satisfaction, and thereby hopefully increasing levels of referrals to other potential customers for your business?
– What are your leads or prospective customers asking you about? Are you delivering what they are looking for? It could be that your original idea for a business needs completely overhauling in order to actually deliver what the market is looking for.
If so, don’t stubbornly stick to your original idea when a potentially far more profitable one is staring you in the face. Many successful businesses end up delivering products and services radically different from ones the business owner originally envisaged.
The best type of market research isn’t doing endless surveys before you even start a online business. It’s diving straight in, and then listening carefully to your market and adjusting your business accordingly to match.
Ultimately, however, the most important advice would be that you need to decide to succeed and absolutely commit to it. There can be no turning back or retreating to your old, familiar zones of comfort. It’s got to be something you commit to at a deep, internal level.
As Tony Robbins once said, “It’s in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.”
Anyone with a business should consider Internet marketing as a way to promote their product or service online.
Some of the basic knowledge needed to get started is listed below. Study these concepts, and you should be able to develop better Internet marketing strategies.
What is a site-wide link? It’s a link that appears on every page of a website. If there’s a page that you want every visitor to be able to quickly and easily find, include a link to it on every page of your site. A menu of links works best for including site-wide links on a website in an orderly way. Be sure the menu link descriptors are short, clear and well organized.
When optimizing your site for search engines, it’s important to remember the HTML code that isn’t shown to humans viewing your site. Meta tags constitute one important example. When search engines try to determine the purpose of your site, the first thing they examine are these tags. Concentrate on meta tags that are most relevant to your site first, then add a few alternative tags to help drive traffic. Choose meta tags that are relevant and will be used by your target customers and potential clients. Take care to not overuse meta tags. Your best bet? If you are not sure if you should use a keyword as a meta tag, then don’t.
“H tags,” used while writing HTML code for a website, are designed to emphasize keywords, titles and other important text elements. The bold tag is used for important text that needs to be recognized. Tags like these are most useful for emphasizing the titles in your site, and also for drawing attention to brief paragraphs of importance. If you make use of bold tags, it’ll be much easier for people to navigate your site and find the content they’d like to read. It will also assist search engine spiders in identifying where the important content is located in a quicker manner. Your titles should include keywords.
In order to promote your product on the Internet, be sure to always come up with new and different methods.
It is common for webmasters to rely mainly on SEO and other marketing methods that are tried and true, though you do not need to do so to the exclusion of Internet marketing. Since many people use the Internet on a daily basis, it is quite common for material to go viral on a daily basis. This is basically word-of-mouth marketing on steroids. Word about the item spreads like wildfire across the Internet. Viral items have a short life span, but you can still benefit from them. If you develop unique and amusing content, you never know what good things could happen. Examine some of the things that have become viral in the past so that you can get an understanding of what has the propensity to become popular.

How To Make Lead Generation Easy, Fun And Fruitful
by Wendy Miller
Are you tired of working on lead generation for your business with minimal results?
It’s time to really figure out what’s going on and to formulate a better plan. You’re about to read some information that can guide you and get you heading down the right path when it comes to securing leads.
To generate the most promising leads for your business, your website needs very clear instructions for the visitor. Make your offer stand out from all other content on the page and make sure it’s easy to understand. The visitor should have no problem identifying your offer and knowing how to get in on it quickly.
Make certain that you have good landing pages.
It can be more effective to have landing pages that go to the ad. You are giving them the information that they wanted in the first place. Combine this with a lead generating form, and you will be building stronger leads.
Are there events in your are that are related to your field? As an example, real estate agents would find a wedding show valuable. People that just got married need to get homes, so get a table set up and let people know what you’re about! Take a look at the papers to learn about upcoming events of interest.
Search engine optimization can take awhile to get going, as can other lead generation techniques.
While they are the best, and while some experts saying purchasing leads is a bad idea, it’s not always the case. Buying leads from a trusted source within your niche can actually be extremely beneficial.
Career fairs are a great place to generate leads if your business has a downline. While you do have to invest in a table, you will have a most captive audience. Be sure to stand out from the crowd by offering something more than just brochures and your pretty face.
Make time for lead generation every single day.
Even half an hour daily can be very effective. Like most things, it’s building the habits that’s the most important aspect of successful lead generation. If you do it daily, you’ll find you become more effective at creating potential qualified customers.
Look for online marketplaces that cater to your niche for quality lead generation.
For example, real estate agents can use realtor.com to find leads. You can even post classified ads to sites like Craigslist or Kijiji. Check out forums as well as you never know who else might be reading there, but don’t spam!
Find out if any local publications available for free fit within your niche.
For example, real estate agents can get into the local “New Homes” guides found in boxes around the city. If you are a dentist, you could get an ad in a free kids’ magazine which details local attractions.
If you’re not wanting to pay for a lead generation, paying in the form of cost per click advertising is not a bad idea. This can really jump start your leads while other strategies are going to take time. In this way, you’re balancing your efforts and driving new customers to your site immediately.
Team up with other companies to cross-promote and generate more leads.
For example, if your website sells nails, join forces with a site that sells hammers. The mutually beneficial relationship should gather more leads and most likely sales for both of you. Just make sure the partner you choose is closely related to your industry and highly reputable.
You have competitors, but you also have companies within your industry that are complement your business. Therefore, network with these companies so that you can exchange leads. This can be a great method to help gain new customers and strengthen your business niche in general for repeated business later on.
Talk with people around you when you find yourself waiting in line.
There’s not any harm that comes from being nice, and you won’t know what you’ll run into. But be mindful to not try to sell to them right off the bat. Take some time to ease in it by asking questions that will help you understand if they’re open to what you have to offer.
Figuring out how to generate leads isn’t easy by any means, but once you get going, things really can start to work out for you exponentially. Don’t get discouraged but in fact get motivated in the right direction. It’s time for the tides to change and for you to reap the benefits.
